A year in La Loire Atlantique

France is a place that has always captivated me and still holds my attention. Numerous family holidays to the west coast gave me my first taste of l'hexagone and it has been a love affair ever since. I loved my French language lessons and exchange visits at school so much that I studied French at University, spending a year at the University of Poitiers.

As things turned out I ended up in Spain, learning a new language and only returned sporadically to France. But, as fate would have it, at the end of 2009 I had the opportunity to return to the Loire Atlantique region to work for a year.

From La Baule towards Le Pouliguen
Our destination was La Baule, a beautiful coastal town with characteristic French charm. The beach is 8km of golden sand joining Pornichet, La Baule and Le Pouliguen. I can't remember how many times we walked along it - and in all weathers. Beach walks are an excellent way of blowing away the cobwebs and getting ideas clear.

La Baule
It turns out that I spent holidays here over 25 years ago. I'm sure that it has changed a lot since then so hubby and I spent many weekends discovering the area. Are there any recurring places in your life which hold special memories?

Hasta pronto!
